Give me 5 reasons why

Dear Pamela,

Our records indicate that you began contributing to Social Security at age 18, with money deducted from your personal paychecks. This continued until you retired and withdrew from the work force, 44 years later.  We also understand that up until now, you have always believed that you were entitled to this money to supplement your retirement funds. But there is a new world order in place now (NWO) and government entitlements are being eliminated.

Therefore, we are now asking you to articulate five reasons why you feel you should still get these monthly payments, that yes, are legally yours, but in this NWO, the laws don’t apply and that doesn’t really matter. Please do so by 11:59 tomorrow night or you will kiss your right to that money goodbye.

The government’s focus is now on cost-cutting, efficiency, and streamlining corruption, led by one man who could author books on best corruption practices and another man who stands to receive billions more in government contracts, and suggests that empathy is a wasted emotion.

Also, you need to be advised that as a woman, your gender is moving up on the list of issues the NWO wants to address. You may want to start scouring vintage stores for aprons and Jello molds, and reviewing videos to perfect the hospital corner when making beds. The NWO has some things to say about your role in society.

Sincerely, Your friends in government

Of course, that’s not what the email from Social Security said, but when I wiped the sleep from my eyes the other morning, that was my first thought. Am I, along with everyone else who has contributed to social security, going to be the next casualties by the chainsaw-wielding man-in-charge? Are we all going to have to justify why we are entitled to the money that is and always has been ours even though the government would like to eliminate it?

Now the truth is, I found the whole thought process rather comical, but there’s nothing funny about this. My brain is being fueled by this junk, and I have got to stop listening to or reading the news. But I can’t. My future depends on it, and so does yours. There are enough shiny shell games going on as it is. If there was ever a time to remain alert and vigilant, it is now.

I couldn’t agree more! There’s so little we can do to stop this craziness, and it is effecting my health and well being. If empathy is a sign of weakness, I’d still rather be empathetic any day than be a cold hearted s,o.b. I believe in what goes around comes around in life!
Your observation of women’s roles in the future made me laugh a bit but so true if this cannot be stopped. Most have no idea where this Heritage Foundation is going to push their agenda and how far they will rip freedoms and a women’s place in society back to. I fear for my granddaughters.

Nor do we understand or have faith that Congress will ever exert some effort to right these wrongs. Thanks always, for reading and commenting. Appreciate it.

My sentiments exactly! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and helping to ease my fears a little bit.
I am afraid for the economy. If social security gets cut even 30% many people that depend on this as their only income will be financially devastated.

Thanks so much. No if only I could lessen my fears and anxiety!

Well put! The NWO says my 22 USAF career-also paid SS during those years- doesn’t grant me WARRIOR status so I should have less than men. My weekly homework to the teens would have to be redacted because it’s classified. Now, I if I had taken some documents home with me to gush over years later I would be prosecuted. But that never crossed my mind.

First, thank you for your years of ethical, patriotic service in an effort to protect our freedoms as well as those in other parts of the world.
Second, no moral, upright law-abiding citizen would consider taking documents well beyond their rights.
      Thanks for your thought-provoking response.

Exactly! We all paid into this system. We are entitled to this money. And all this craziness so the Republicans can shove their enormous tax cuts for billionaires down our throats.

It all seems so simple, doesn’t it? Thanks, Ellen. Crazy times.

Thank you! Many of us feel the same way. I struggle with people that just don’t wish to see the destruction he is doing. My words cannot express the fear and anxiety I have with our government situation, so Thank you for voicing some of yours.

Thank you. It boggles my mind as well when others refuse to acknowledge or even stay in tune with what’s going on. You encourage me!

I will be suing the gov’t for every penny (even if they stop minting them) I put in since I was 16 + interest. A national class action suit! Who’s with me?

    Pam,
I’d love to compliment you on another well-written piece that sums what so many of us are observing, thinking and feeling. But, alas. I’m too exhausted from unrelenting housework and trying my best to be barefoot, pregnant, and learning “my place.”
    Your friend,

I am glad to know that I am not alone thrashing about in this sea of uncertainty! Meanwhile, I am trying to keep my husband from stroking out—he paid into SS for 66 years and did not retire until he was 80—and if he had invested all that money privately, we could be singing a different tune. But that is the least of it. We stand to lose more than money in this Project 2025 mess.

There are lots of what-ifs with all of this, but that doesn’t negate the anxiety so many of us fear. Keep taking care of your husband! You, too. Thanks, Joanne.

I think that your ending sentences speak volumes. Although protecting our mental health is de rigueur these days, all of us must find a way to stay healthy, yet engaged and do our part to resist tyranny. For me, I’m tired of hearing friends say “Oh I’m not listening to the news, it’s just too upsetting.”

Elaine, thank you. The irony – just tonight, I said I have to start rationing my news intake. And tomorrow, I will call my congressman, again. Yet, it seems so futile.

Welcome to my website where my goal was to fill the pages with writing that induces gut wrenching laughs. Since I have no spouse, in-laws, children, grandchildren or pets, I have to work a whole lot harder than most humor writers. Hence, instead you’ll find a blog that features travel, contemplative reflections, and of course some humor – you can’t embrace middle age without it. When not writing, I enjoy quilting, learning about other cultures, and living in the Arizona desert.
