A week ago, I was part of a large audience (200-300 people) who had each plunked down some cash to hear Mollie Morning Star. Yes, that’s her real name. And I’m not sure if hear is the correct word. Maybe see, definitely experience. It was part of the book festival I was attending in my small Wisconsin hometown.
When my sister asked me if I wanted to go, I didn’t hesitate. This would be great writing material. Plus we were both interested in seeing the lovingly restored Temple Theater where I watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid two proms in a row, but that’s another story.
“Mollie is an evidential psychic medium with a stunning ability to communicate validating messages from loved ones in the afterlife that greatly reduce the pain of grieving.” From her website, https://www.molliemorningstar.com/
The skeptical cynic that I am, I sat back and snickered at all the people (mostly women, mid-thirties to mid-fifties) who filed in. To be honest, I was quite astonished at the number of people and the distance some of them had driven.
Then we were introduced to Mollie, and by the time she was done telling us about her life and the discovery of this gift of hers, I was amazed at how ordinary she is. And that’s a compliment in this case.
Throughout the evening, she felt messages and worked with the audience to identify who they were for. The connections were real, and I felt for the women who found comfort and closure. Yes, tears were shed by some. The whole experience was eerie to observe. Only one time was it a bust, unless you know a Dave who has bad feet and likes prunes. There were many opportunities for laughter.
I had my fortune read once at a fundraiser. I had my cards read one time when I succumbed to peer pressure from a bunch of friends. No dice, either time. I wasn’t buying it. But this was different, and by the end of the session, my attitude had changed.
I’m a believer in acupuncture. I’ve had what I would call miraculous results. Others I know believe in the benefits of reiki. Both of these are known to help people even amongst leagues of doubters. And now I’m ready to add the benefits of a psychic medium.
Originally, I expected to write something snarky, but during the evening, I must have received my own telepathic message from my mother. If you can’t say something nice …
Truthfully, I’m still not much of a believer of this for me, BUT, if it helps someone find comfort or peace, isn’t that a good thing? It doesn’t always have to be how it resonates with all of us to have value, does it?
Please share how you feel about this or your own experiences, if you’re willing.

A little old Italian nonna told me I would go overseas and it would have something to do with children. At the time I was taking a break from college, working in a bank, saving money to return to school. I eventually returned and got my degree in Art Education. Jobs for art teachers were scarce in Ohio at the time and I was excited to accept an offer to teach in Australia. I was probably living and working in Melbourne for a year or more when I remembered nonna’s prediction and got chills. I’ve never had an encounter with results like that since.

Now that’s more than a coincidence, right? Thanks, Kate.

Thank you for sharing that. One of my friends had a very powerful experience w a medium after her Dad died and then again this past year when her Mom joined him. I was interested enough to attend a similar group event once and was captivated by the instances of connections. The world is an interesting place on so many levels!

It is indeed. Thanks for responding, Beth.

A friend’s mom was told by a psychic she would die in California–we lived in Syracuse,NY. Many years later my friend and her older brother moved to San Francisco. A few years later the mom and dad moved there. Unfortunately, both the son and daughter died first, then Aunt Sue, then Uncle George.

Very interesting, I’m sure at the time, your friend didn’t even see California in her future. Thanks, Phyllis.

Pam, several years ago (22 years ago) I went to a small Cajun restaurant with friends. There was a Psychic who gave “readings”. I was talked into having her give me a reading, but I was very skeptical. Because I would not give her any personal information, she asked if she could hold something of mine that I wore, so I handed her my watch. She then looked at me and told me that I would be offered a job working for the government, and that although she did not “like” the government as a whole, the job would be a good fit for me. The next week I was offered a job working for the Social Security Administration. I had applied for the position several months before and had no expectations of being offered a job at that point. The job was a good fit, as I retired from the agency after 18 years of work.

Great story, Bridgett. Thanks.

Disclosure: I am a believer. I’ve had many readings over the years. A couple stand out, and I’m sharing one from 2018 regarding selling my business. I desperately wanted to retire, and the opportunities to sell were sparce. I was attending a holistic fair, where my wife was a vendor for her reiki-attuned amethyst products (that’s a whole different discussion of becoming enlightened). The psychic I chose has an excellent reputation, and is respected. All I told her was what I said above. She held my hands, shut her eyes, and asked me to do the same. After what seemed like an eternity, she said “you will sell your business, but in a way you could never imagine!”. I saw her two years later, and I told her the why and how of the sale. She remembered the reading and resisted saying she told me so, but didn’t act at all surprised by the unlikely events that led to the sale. She did give me a hug. And a big smile.

I don’t know your story, but I’m glad it all worked out. Yes, you and Renee would have loved this. Thanks, Karen.

Thanks for writing about this fun, interesting, and moving evening. Mollie was a very down-to-earth person, which made everyone comfortable. I found it interesting that several of the women around us were hoping to connect with their mothers. Too bad our mom wasn’t channeling us, she could have had 2 daughters at once. That might have been interesting.

Pam-
You have a writing style that absolutely captivates attention. This one was so near and dear, as I have been fortunate to visit some amazing psychics, including one that would be in the Midwest often, Irene Hughes. Coupled with my belief and her amazing powers, I was able to connect with some who had passed in prior years, but was able to appropriately channel the mindset to allow. Thank you for providing the forum.

Wow! Thank you so much -I feel quite honored by your comment. I hope you continue to stay tuned, with both the psychic powers, and my blog.
