Advice According to Oreos

by Pam Sievers

What advice would you give your 20 year old self?  A Facebook friend recently posed the question, and rather glibly, I responded "Put the Oreos down. They are not your friends". Most everyone else wrote more serious life lessons they'd learned about balance in life, career strategies, or personal relationships. One guy wrote "floss" - I think we'd hit it off.But this question has stayed on my mind and I find myself contemplating, “what would I have been better off knowing then, had I been Continue Reading

New Year’s Resolutions? There’s Still Time!

by Pam Sievers

As I write this, we are three weeks into the New Year, and time to assess our New Year’s resolutions. What? You didn’t make any? Well, you’re just in luck, because any time is a good time to try better habits, ditch crummy behaviors or just hit the refresh button on things going well. And don’t worry if you’re off to a rocky start. That old myth that it takes 21 days to form a new habit is just that – a myth. It may take weeks or months, and sometimes, we need to start over and over to stay on Continue Reading

A Woman’s Guide to The Five Phases of Retirement

by Pam Sievers

Oh sure, I know everyone thinks retirement is about three things: time with family (especially grandkids), travel, and hobbies. Throw in volunteering, if you’re more altruistic minded. I’m Supposed to Sleep With This?

by Pam Sievers

This getting older phase of life has a way of sneaking up on me, at times when I least expect it. Last month, the reality hit me, when the service delivery van arrived in my driveway. Senior Home Health Services.WHAT????Let me back up a bit. In my early 40’s, I finally had to make an appointment with an eye doctor. There was nothing wrong with my vision, but my arms just weren’t long enough anymore, so I was fitted with my first pair of glasses. For reading of course, but because one eye is Continue Reading

Welcome to my website!

Welcome to my website where my goal was to fill the pages with writing that induces gut wrenching laughs. Since I have no spouse, in-laws, children, grandchildren or pets, I have to work a whole lot harder than most humor writers. Hence, instead you’ll find a blog that features travel, contemplative reflections, and of course some humor – you can’t embrace middle age without it. When not writing, I enjoy quilting, learning about other cultures, and living in the Arizona desert.
