The Olympics of My Adulthood

by Pam Sievers 12 Comments

The Summer Olympics has captured my attention this past week, and it was a nice trip down memory lane in my last post when I recalled the active days of my youth and adolescence. I felt the scar on my foot from a bike accident, and I remembered my own experience with cupping a few years ago that left dark circles on my shoulders just like swimmer Michael Phelps and gymnast Alexander Naddour. Except mine was for the treatment of age related bursitis, not an overuse due to hours swimming or in Continue Reading

The Summer Olympics of My Youth

“A lot of Olympians are overachievers.” Meredith Vieira, August 5, 2016 Perhaps this explains it. Perhaps, this is the single best reason I never made it to the Olympics. Well, along with personal drive, access to coaches, money to make it happen, practice facilities, and an addiction to Oreos. Oh wait – one more thing. Talent. But a girl can dream, can't she? Dreams fueled by memories, I've decided to reflect on the summer olympics of my youth. Swimming was my sport, and I remember Continue Reading

Infomercials, the Presidential Race and the Gospel

by Pam Sievers 4 Comments

Note:I've promised you a blog that is politics and religion free. This blog slightly violates that promise... in the spirit of the post. Last night, I laughed so uncontrollably, I had to work to catch my breath. When is the last time that happened to you? Oh, it felt so good. What provoked it? I was watching a goofy late night TV show and there was an infomercial for a *flashlight. Oh no, this wasn’t any ordinary flashlight. This was a flashlight so powerful, it could still function even Continue Reading

My Walk of Shame

by Pam Sievers 14 Comments

The sun was high and my mouth was dry. It was 92 degrees, and fortunately, the humidity had dropped a bit, so it only felt like 95. But I was bound and determined to get that walk in. Step by step, against the black asphalt. Why was I doing this to myself, much less at the hottest part of the day? Two reasons. Reason One. I savored every single bite of a Coney dog for lunch. And so it didn’t feel lonely on the plate, I ordered a side of fries – extra crispy, of course. In case you’re not Continue Reading

Welcome to my website!

Welcome to my website where my goal was to fill the pages with writing that induces gut wrenching laughs. Since I have no spouse, in-laws, children, grandchildren or pets, I have to work a whole lot harder than most humor writers. Hence, instead you’ll find a blog that features travel, contemplative reflections, and of course some humor – you can’t embrace middle age without it. When not writing, I enjoy quilting, learning about other cultures, and living in the Arizona desert.
